What is DTC code?
Diagnostic Trouble Codes, or DTCs, are fault codes generated in the power train control module when it receives data from any of the sensors monitoring the power train which do not correlate with the data programmed into the module at the factory. The engine control module (ECM) stores a DTC in its memory when it senses a problem with the vehicle.
How is Ford DTC?
A Ford diagnostic trouble code (DTC) consists of one letter and four numbers that identify a specific problem within the vehicle. The engine control module (ECM) stores a DTC in its memory when it senses a problem with the vehicle. This DTC can be retrieved from the ECM by connecting an automotive scan tool to the Ford's diagnostic data port.
